Feature — Recording search
Find the recording, not the folder.
Callnsight pulls every recording off your PBX, indexes it against the call it belongs to, and keeps the whole archive searchable — by direction, extension, caller ID, date range, or any part of a number.
What you can do with a recorded call
- Search by the part you remember
- Nobody remembers a whole phone number. Type the fragment you do — the last four digits, an extension, a date range — and the calls that match surface with their recordings attached.
- Play it back in the browser
- Recordings play live with a waveform and scrub without downloading the file first. Downloading is a permission you grant, not a link you pass around.
- Keep the audio you own
- Store recordings on your own S3 bucket or SFTP server on any plan, or on ours — we index the audio, you hold it. Provider credentials are encrypted before they touch the database.
- Off the PBX before it fills
- Recordings stop piling up on the phone system’s own disk. Callnsight moves them to storage and prunes to the retention policy you set — not until a disk runs out.
How recordings reach you
Once
Connect the PBX
Point Callnsight at your Vodia or Broadvoice system. Recordings arrive alongside the call records they belong to — your PBX settings are only ever read, never written.
As calls finish
Audio is synced and indexed
New recordings are pulled in, matched to their call, and a waveform is generated, so a file is ready to scrub the moment you open it.
Whenever you need it
Search, play, export
Find the call by a fragment of a number, open the recording, or export exactly the rows you filtered. No vendor portal to fight, no export to reconcile.
Questions
- Can I search call recordings by phone number?
- Yes. Search a fragment of any number and the calls that match surface with their recordings attached, or filter the listing by direction, extension, caller ID or date range and export exactly the rows you filtered.
- Do I have to download a recording to listen to it?
- No. Recordings play in the browser with a waveform and scrub without downloading the file first. Downloading is a separate permission you grant per user, not a link that gets passed around.
- Where are the recordings stored?
- On Callnsight’s storage, or on your own S3 bucket or SFTP server — both options are there on every plan. Either way we index the audio and you own it, and provider credentials are encrypted at rest.
- Which phone systems does recording search work with?
- Vodia and Broadvoice ship today. If you run something else, tell us through the contact form — the integration built next is decided by what people say they run.
See it on your own calls.
Start with a 30-day trial on one PBX, or tell us what you run and roughly how many people answer calls — we’ll tell you where you land.
